Turn heads with this unique replica of a Roman Chi-Rho coin from 350-353 C.E. The 18mm replica silver coin is oxidized giving it it's antique colouring. Gently framed in a 10k rose or yellow gold bezel and compass prongs, the coin rotates freely. "Alpha & Omega" is inscribed on the back. Inspiration
This early Christian symbolism composed of the first two letters of Christ’s name in Greek and looks like an X with a P through it. This symbol is recorded by Christian authors of the day to have been shown to Constantine I in a vision from God along with the message "in this sign you will conquer". Because of this vision Constantine ordered his army to use this symbol on their equipment, an act which was believed to have won him the Battle of the Milvian Bridge in 312.
On this coin issued under Magnentius the Chi-Rho is explicitly connected to Christianity with the use of the Alpha and Omega on it.
In Latin, D N MAGNENTIVS P F AVG (Our Lord Magnentius the Devoted and Happy Augustus) on obverse, SALVS D D N N AVG ET CAES ( Safety of Our Augustus and Caesar).
